SMYRNA, Del. — The Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) announced the availability of its newly launched Web site located at www.degweb.org. The DEG encourages all users of collision estimating software to review and engage themselves via the Web site, in conjunction with the tools already provided by the various software providers. The new site features clear navigation through the database inquiry process and a clean user interface for enhanced functionality. It allows the average estimate preparer to provide input to the information providers in an easy, consistent and streamlined manner. To keep the industry abreast of all positive advancements toward more accurate collision estimating data, the Web site employs the use of a live database of focused content to track all ongoing and resolved inquiries. The DEG also will publish a monthly electronic newsletter that will provide the industry with a regular update of the DEG and Web site activity. “The Web site is one of the most critical elements of the DEG’s strategic initiative to aid in the advancement of accurate collision estimating data,” says Nick Kostakis, DEG joint operating committee member. “Our expectation is that we will share a common goal, with the industry and the information providers, of the highest degree of accuracy that is practically possible, and that we will objectively apply supporting data, such as that which might come from the inquiry originator, the DEG, or an OEM.” In addition to the Web site, the DEG previously announced securing a contract for dedicated administration of the DEG and the newly launched site. Aaron Schulenburg, the independent contractor fulfilling this role, was named Oct. 30 at the Collision Industry Conference meeting in Las Vegas. The Database Enhancement Gateway is an initiative that enables those who use collision repair estimating databases to provide feedback to the information providers in an effort to promote data accuracy. DEG resources include an easy-to-use Web site and inquiry form, dedicated administration of inquiries, and a current database of both pending and resolved data inquiries for the major information providers. The DEG is created, equally funded and maintained by the Automotive Service Association, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists. | ||
