HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — For the fifth consecutive year, the I-CAR Education Foundation in conjunction with Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc. and “The Most Influential Women of the Collision Repair Industry,” will offer a scholarship for female collision repair students. To promote the increasing importance of a skilled and educated work force as well as to recognize the increasing leadership roles and growing opportunities for women in the industry, Akzo established the “Most Influential Women of the Collision Repair Industry” program. The program annually recognizes the leadership contributions that are made by a group that is dedicated to the betterment of this industry and their communities.

On behalf of “The Most Influential Women of the Collision Repair Industry,” Akzo has chosen to donate funds to the I-CAR Education Foundation for scholarships to create additional opportunities for women in the collision industry. Applicants for the scholarships who are attending secondary schools must be seniors in a collision repair training class with plans to continue their education in the collision industry after graduation. Applicants from post-secondary schools must be enrolled in training programs relevant to collision repair. Scholarships will pay for post-secondary education or to attend training programs offered by I-CAR.

This year, there will be two $5,000 winners; one winner from a secondary school and one winner from a post-secondary school. In addition, there will be six $2,000 runner-up scholarships. The Education Foundation will announce the winners at NACE in November.

A total of 359 career and technical schools and colleges that are ASE-certified to the NATEF standards in collision repair and refinishing received a letter and student application for this scholarship. Both the female student applicant and instructor will submit an application in addition to a short essay explaining why the student should be awarded this scholarship.

The executive committee of the Education Foundation Board of Trustees will select final winners. The executive committee consists of Chairman Chris Evans, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance; Secretary Steve Seidner, Seidner’s Collision Centers; Treasurer Doug Webb, CSi Complete; Trustee-at-Large Bill Daly, Allstate Insurance Company; Trustee-at-Large Rick Jazwin, Universal Technical Institute; Trustee-at-Large Gregory Settle, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC; and Immediate Past Chairman Clark Plucinski, True2Form Collision Repair Centers.

I am a singal mother of five beautiful children. I'm on my fourth semester at LBCC an undergraduate school. I'm passion about helping people. I'm a recory alcohol\drugs addicts for five years now. I live in a small three bedroom apartment; my three older which are 2-9th graders, and 1-8th grader, they are K-12 homeschooler, my 5th grader is in public school, and then there's my baby, she's 4yrs. old and a blessing in my life. We're currently living on child support which is not alot. I purchased a small vehicle with the hope to save gas, when I brought the car home and the next day found out the engine needs a lot of work. I won't be able to use it if smog check won't pass due to the problem with the engine. I and my children would be so happy if we can get some help to fix this car it will help us tremendously.
