The 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show will include a new section dedicated to paint and related equipment. The new section will feature manufacturers of vehicle paint, prep stations, paint booths, body work, frame machines, spray guns and safety/filtration/breathing apparatus. It also will have related accessories, equipment, systems, coating/refinishing products, services and publications.

It is unknown at this time how that will affect vendors of those products who traditionally exhibit at the NACE/CARS show, which occurs in Las Vegas the same week as SEMA.

“We’re excited to dedicate a section of the SEMA show to this important segment of the industry,” says Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of events and communications. “This is a core element of the industry that touches all market niches.” The paint section is a direct response to feedback organizers received from both buyers and sellers, SEMA said.

“We definitely know that our existing customers have an interest in this area,” MacGillivray said about the new paint and paint-related products section.

The paint, body and equipment section is one of two new sections being added to the SEMA show. Approximately 2,000 companies exhibit at the annual event, which covers two-million-square feet of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Other SEMA show floor sections are: business services, hot rod alley; mobile electronics & technology; powersports & utility vehicles; racing & performance; restoration marketplace; restyling & car care accessories; tires, wheels & equipment (sponsored by TIA); tools & equipment; trucks, SUVs & off-road; and OEM.
