The National Auto Body Council is in the final days of accepting nominations for a position on the NABC board of directors. This is in preparation for the election to take place at the NABC annual meeting in conjunction with NACE in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay convention area on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. To be eligible for ballot inclusion, one must be an NABC member or a representative of a member and must also notify NABC in writing of your intent. To do this, you can contact the admin office at info@autobodycouncil.org or Executive Director Chuck Sulkala at chucksulkala@msn.com. You may also send your notice by way of U.S. mail to the following address: NABC 191 Clarksville Rd, Princeton Junction, NJ 08550, or fax the notice to 609-799-7032. This notification must be received on or before Monday, September 7, 2009, in keeping with NABC bylaws that state it must be received in writing 60 days before the election. It is also possible for three or more members to nominate an individual. This can be done with or without the nominee’s approval; although, once a name is on the ballot it cannot be removed. If someone is elected that does not wish to serve, they will be required to resign and the chairman will make an appointment to fill the term. This year seven positions are open. The terms of Bruce Cooley, Bill Garoutte, Bob Keith, Mike Quinn and Nick Notte are ending, but they are invited to seek election. Once the deadline for nominations passes, a ballot will be formulated that includes all who have expressed interest. That ballot then will be sent to all members 30 days in advance of vote. The specific location (room) of the election will be included on the ballot. Note that all NABC members who wish to vote must be in attendance since NABC bylaws prohibit proxy votes as well as nominations from the floor.
